Piano Lights – Light Up the Night

I can remember it like it was yesterday. As a youngster my parents would always give me lots of advice. I was like most kids and it would go in one ear and out the other. Every kid knows that when we are young we know more than our parents. Some of the advice was sound, like looking both ways as I would cross into traffic. I was told to slow down as I was riding my bicycle. My favorite not listened to piece of advice was not to read in dim lighting. I was told that I would go blind. It did not happen to me and I could see what I was working on just fine but I knew they were trying to do their best and look out for me. I now use some of their old advice on my own children and yes my kids will roll their eyes just like I did. As I get older it has become tougher to see in low light situations. Using proper lighting helps ease eye strain and makes it easier to read.

I have been playing piano most of my life. As an adult it is something I really enjoyed. I have been able to play several local shows and a few more distant a year. This past year I have noticed that in certain low light situations it has become tougher to see the sheet music. It has been harder to see smaller fonts. It very quickly caused fatigue and eye strain. I became tired and playing music was not as fun as it used to be. Reading in proper lighting is important. I have read that reading in low light will not alter your vision but I have noticed that it makes it harder to focus. Over time it can harm the eyes and affect someone’s eyesight. Investing in a piano lamp was the best decision I made for my musical career.

I purchased a clip on piano light for my piano. I notice that it helped my eyesight right away. It focused the light properly on the sheet music. It made it much easier to see and I notice that it helped eliminate the eye strain that I would usually get in a low light situation. With the new piano lamp I felt like I could play for hours. It made playing music fun again. I felt like the piano lamp helped me fight off father time a little longer. This was a good thing. In my research I notice that they were several different styles and choices of piano lights to choose from. As I have played in lots of locations around the country, I never knew what the lighting was going to be as every new location was different. The piano lamp would give as much or as little of light that I would need. It helped me see better in every venue.

Having proper lighting is nothing new but I will tell any my musician peers that are my age that we can fight off old tired eyes with a piano lamp. It will definitely help anyone see better and hopefully it will help any musician play better too!

Choosing Bamboo Decor That is Unique

Bamboo can create one of the most unique looks you can ever add to a room. If you’re considering a remodeling project or just wanting to change the look and feel of a den or family room – Then you may want to consider bamboo items for your decor.

There are several options that you can choose from when deciding on a theme. Perhaps the biggest drawback in choosing bamboo will be the lack of color selection. You really have to go by shades rather than colors, so this may influence you a little bit in deciding which rooms you plan to add to your bamboo.

Often times, you can find unique bamboo items in garage sales or second hand stores that have greatly reduce prices. Sometimes someone may get various different items made from bamboo for a gift but they’re really not interested in them. When this happens, they might put them in a garage sale for a very cheap price that you can pick up and save a considerable amount of money.

You may want to pay a visit to your local library and browse through the various free magazines on display to gain even more ideas for your bamboo decor. The library is a free source of ideas that is often times a great resource that people forget about. You can save yourself hundreds of dollars by getting a good picture in your mind based on the magazines. If you have a larger budget, you may even be able to order certain items through ads in these magazines.

Nesting Dolls – Great New Product Ideas

Filed Under (Piano Lamp Articles) by pana193 on 24-07-2010

By now, most people have read how nesting dolls originated and how they are all hand painted by very particular artists using very small brushes to make an entire set come to life. All that is great but I wanted to explore some rather odd ideas for nesting dolls that I am not sure have been created (this could be a great idea for someone with an artistic flare who can bring a couple of these sets to life for us). I have been thinking about this for a while and am now ready to announce these ideas to the world, so here we go.

My first idea is to develop a set of dolls around great TV families. Families that we grew up with, that are a little bit nostalgic but who would also be very recognizable are the types I am speaking about. I would start with the Brady Bunch and include the Mom and Dad, Alice and the 6 kids in one set. I think that would be a great seller and would serve to honor what is probably the number one family of that generation. The next family to be made into a doll set would be the Partridge family. I would include the manager to be sure that there were enough dolls to make a complete set. The Clampett family of Beverly Hillbillies would be next and I would include the banker and Miss Hathaway to round out the set.

I would then move to the greatest sports teams of all times. I would include a couple sets of Yankee teams with Babe Ruth, maybe another with the Boston Celtics when they were winning all those championships, and maybe another of the Big Red Machine, since many people in the Midwest would probably love a set and they are my favorite team of all-time.

I would also include a hall-of-fame set where you might be able to take any sport and make up dolls of a couple of years of hall-of-fame inductees. I think these would also sell well because a person could do a set for every sport, so there are lots of great groups to select from to start sets.

My next group to do would be custom to individual groups such as a team of corporate executives. This may sound a little corny but I think that many executive teams would buy a set made up of themselves, especially after they have had a good year. This last one may be pushing it a little bit, but I think there are lots of potential nesting doll sets that are not being done at the moment that could benefit the collectors and be fun for the people who are in the sets.

There are many ways that these items could be displayed. You could put them on a table, set them on shelves even display them on a piano, highlighted with a piano lamp. However you choose to display them, they will be the talk of any gathering.

School is Where the Home is – Home Schooling

Filed Under (Piano Lamp Articles) by pana193 on 18-07-2010

Schools are learning institutions with set values and philosophies that they tend to inculcate in their method of teaching. Usually, a parent’s decision as to which school to send their children to are based on precisely the values and philosophies that these institutions are known for. If however, as a parent, you feel that no school or learning institution share your values then perhaps you are better off home schooling your child or children.

It differs from regular, traditional schooling only in the sense that the child learns all the regular lessons except that he or she does not learn this inside a school room.

It is important to note however that home schooling should include taking field trips, incorporating music and physical education into the child’s curriculum, and other duties involved in a regular school day like grading papers and such. It is also important that the child’s social development not be taken for granted.

One of the main contentions in home schooling verus traditional learning is that the child or children may not be able to exercise and develop social skills properly since they are not around other children that they would otherwise be in contact with inside a traditional classroom. To get the most out of this schooling method and to know if it is for you and your child, below are links to really good resources on line.

This site is one of the largest resource you will find on the Internet because of the amount of useful content it has in it. Even better is the fact that this is a non-commercial site which means that the site will not try to sell you anything so that anything you read or learn from the site can be considered neutral as opposed to sites that offer information as a marketing tool to sell their products.

The author of the site is a parent who actually does home schooling for his children. You’ll find useful and empathetic answers to your frequently asked questions on this site.

The Advantage for Socializing

As mentioned above, one of the biggest concerns raised against is that home schooled children may not be able to develop social skills as well as children who are taught inside a traditional setting. In this particular site however you will find an article by someone who was actually home schooled as opposed to learning inside a classroom.

Here you will read about how learning at home as opposed to in a classroom did nothing to deter him from developing the proper social skills needed for a fully functioning adult in our society.

Look out also for other useful links found in the pages of the article to point you in the right direction on learning more about it and other rich resources on line.

Learn in Freedom

Here is another great resource online that showcases what’s new and current in the schooling world. The page is straight forward and easy to navigate, and puts more meat into their content rather than their appearance. This a great site to get started or improve.
