Benefits of Touch Lamps

Touch lamps are very unique. You do not have to hunt for a switch or knob to turn the lamp on, you just touch any metal surface on the lamp and it is on. These lamps are convenient, they have four settings–low, medium, high and off. The lowest setting could be used for a night light–a dim glow for when you do not want the room dark or simply when you do not want to walk into a dark room; possibly you would like to rest your eyes, listen to music or watch TV. The medium setting is a little brighter and could be for watching TV also or maybe when conversing with friends and not in the mood for the light to be so bright. The highest setting is for reading the newspaper, reading a good book or when you just want to have more light in the room.

Another benefit of touch lamps is that they are useful for people who cannot bend their fingers around a small knob for some reason. The lamp turns on with just a touch and this would be a great benefit for these people. Yet another benefit of touch lamps is the fact that you do not have to buy 3-way bulbs in order to benefit from the various settings. The touch sensor in the base of the lamp determines the settings. Most of the lamps use candelabra bulbs, but just as an example if you were using a 60 watt bulb in the lamp, with one touch the bulb will burn at 33% capacity or as a 20 watt bulb. The second touch will cause the bulb to burn at 66% capacity or as a 40 watt bulb. The third touch will cause the lamp to burn at the full capacity of 60 watts. All of these settings from one-way light bulbs causing these lamps to be beneficial as energy savers also.

Touch lamps have either six or eight glass panels in the shade. The glass panels are decorated with scenes, animals, flowers, celebrities, birds, and various other things. They are colorful and are a beautiful addition to any room. Since the lamps have glass panels, they are easy to clean, just use glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Some lamp shades are made of cloth or other materials and would possibly become stained, but since touch lamp shades are of glass, they do not stain. Most of these lamps are table lamps but there are floor touch lamps as well. Each of them is available in many beautiful designs and various styles. Touch lamps are truly amazing with many benefits!

13 Studio Vocal Recording Techniques For Getting That Live Performance Magic

Filed Under (Piano Lamp Articles) by pana193 on 25-06-2010

There is a frustrating disconnect with many people who are great in live performance but can’t seem to get that same great vocal in the recording studio. Here are some tips to help you create the right atmosphere to bring your live sound into your recorded sound:

Make sure the music stand is back far enough under the mic so you can stand in such a way that you don’t need to lean forward.
Memorize your song. Don’t read lyric sheets if at all possible.
Ask the engineer if you can be placed where you are not facing directly into the control room.
Ask for your vocal booth lighting, and also the control room lighting if it distracts you, to be turned down so you can focus your mind on the story.
Some people are helped by “props”. Light a candle, put a picture near, plug in a lava lamp… whatever it takes to get you into the scene of the song.
Sing TO your listener. Play with your imaginary friend(s).  Try to make that person feel something from your communication of the message… just like live.
Don’t sing to anyone in the control room. They are there to judge your performance and edit you. Listen to them, then go right back to communicating to the object of your message (lyric).
Alternately, give your song as a gift to whoever is listening to you. Just don’t worry about how they are receiving and assessing your gift!
Use body language! You won’t believe how using eyes, face, hands, legs, expressive body language can cause studio singing to take on amazing life. Ditch your inhibition (and possibly your pride) and physically get into your delivery. Caution: Be careful to keep your mouth the right distance from the microphone. Ask your engineer for advice about how far your mouth should be from the mic. This can vary according to the type of mic you’re singing on, how loud you will be singing and the type of sound you want to end up with.
Use “studio hands”. This is a technique I use and teach: Put your fingertips together and push them into each other to help you expand your ribs and stand flexibly tall. This enables much better breath control, and can keep your throat free as well.
Try using a dummy mic. If you have logged a lot of microphone-holding hours onstage, you might get that great old familiar feeling — and balance — by singing with a dummy mic or similarly weighted object in your hand. Put the dummy mic up to your mouth and sing into it like you would live, but position yourself close enough to the live mic to make sure it picks up your voice.
Hire a vocal producer! You are much more likely to get that great studio vocal if you have a vocal producer who knows and can enable you with good microphone technique on your recording team.
Get some vocal lessons. An extremely effective tactic is to take some professional vocal lessons as pre-production. Do it before to going into the studio to maximize your chances of getting that live magic that won’t leave you wishing you could do that vocal over again!

Are you searching for a simple way to enhance the décor in your bedroom without spending a lot of money? One way to do this is by accessorizing. You can turn a dull boring bedroom into a beautiful exciting one simply by adding the right accessories. So how do you choose the right accessories for your bedroom? The tips listed below will help you get started.

1. Dress Up Your Bed – Since the bed is normally the largest piece of furniture in the room and is always the center of focus you should start with it. Buy a comforter set for your bed that will brighten up the room. Choose something that enhances the décor you already have but make sure it is a design that you truly like. After all, this is one of the most important accessories in the bedroom.

2. Add Bed Pillows – Once your comforter set is in place you should look for decorative bed pillows to complete the look. Choose patterns that enhance the bedding not ones that take away from it. If you get too colorful or choose patterns that clash it will ruin the look you are trying to achieve. Therefore, you need to stick with simple patterns or solids that bring out the color of the bedding.

3. Choose the Right Window Coverings – Your windows are more important than you might think. You can choose window curtains that match your bedding or something that brings out the color you choose for your comforter set. The choice is yours but you do want to make sure they match the overall design. You should also be able to pull your curtains back during the day and let the sunshine fill your room.

4. Lamps and Candles – Adding a couple of lamps to your bedroom will give you options when it comes to your lighting. This allows you to set different moods and make your bedroom a great place to relax and read a good book or set the mood for romance. Candles always make a wonderful accessory that enhances the décor, gives off a romantic light and can fill the air with an alluring aroma.

These few simple tips can help to transform your bedroom into a relaxing haven or a romantic get-a-away simply by using a few accessories to brighten up the room and enhance the décor you already have.

Beat Maker – Why Should You Choose Online Beat Makers If You Are Just Starting!

Filed Under (Piano Lamp Articles) by pana193 on 21-06-2010

Tagged Under : , , , ,

If you thought that looking for cheaper and easier beat maker is impossible, then you are definitely wrong. I tried testing six programs and I learned the best, easy and cheap music beat maker in town.

For those who are just starting in beat making, try using online beat programs, first. In this kind of programs, you can easily learn the basics of proper beat making. Learning the basics is important rather skipping the basics and immediately jumping off to the more advance programs like Reason, Logic and Fruity Loops. You can easily grasp the idea much quicker with the use of online beat making software.

Due to my growing interest with beat makers, I decided to create my own beat. I hired a tutor to teach me lessons for this; we did it on his own studio, with his own equipment. He has a complete set of beat maker, keyboards, MPCs, drums and more. It seems that all you will need in beat making were already there. I have learned that the total cost of these equipments was $25,000 all in all. There is no way that I could afford that kinds of equipments and aside form that, even thought I take lessons from him, I was not able to get to practice at home since I do not have the complete set of equipments at home.

After getting the basics lessons, which I thought, I have not learned, entirely, I tried the more advance program which is the Reason. Somehow I thought I know all the standards in beat making. If you do not know the basics, you will definitely get lost with Reason.

I was really about to give on my sear for the easiest and cheapest beat maker until I tried online music beat programs. I was so shocked with the money I spent getting my beat online. It only takes me $35 without compromising the quality of the sound. It is just like using some advance software that professionals use. It is very easy to use, would you believe that I made my very first beat in just two hours. With the experiences I had and the different kinds of beat maker I have tried, I definitely know how to make my beat making sound so professional.

Decorate Rich…High Style for Less

It’s easy to create luxurious spaces when you have unlimited funds. For most of us, however, the phrase “money is no object” is not in our vocabulary. Champagne and caviar style CAN be achieved on a beer and pretzel budget. All it takes is a little imagination and creative resourcefulness to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary!

Whether your home is a castle or condo, mansion or module, use these tips to turn your living space into a showplace – without breaking the bank!

Details Make a Difference: Transform your home from builder basic to handcrafted custom with the addition of architectural trim work. Install or upgrade trim and moldings such as door and window casings, crown moldings, wall treatments, picture rails, base trim, etc. A quick trip to the lumberyard or home center will enlighten you to a variety of options and styles. Such architectural detail not only adds character and charm to a home but also conveys an image of quality and wealth.

All The Trimmings: Just as simple moldings can transform hard surfaces – fabric, trimmings, beads, tassels and fringe can make store bought soft furnishings look more expensive. Create “designer” window treatments by adding contrasting trim to ready-made window panels. Attach bullion fringe to a tapestry fabric remnant for an elegant throw. Make real fur pillows for an old mink stole. Use yards of sheeting in coordinated prints and solids to fashion curtains, table skirts, duvet covers and shower curtains. Hot glue bead trim to lamp shades for a touch of whimsy and sparkle.

Off the Walls: Think you can’t afford an original masterpiece? Create one-of-a-kind works of art from everyday objects. An old china plate, mismatched silver spoons, rusty keys, embroidered hankies, pressed leaves, post cards, pages from a book or calandar – almost anything you can think of – can become a unique piece of art when matted and framed. The local craft store carries a variety of picture frames and pre-cut mats to fit any decor. Unify mismatched items by keeping the mat and frame the same size and color. Add prominence to a small object by framing in a shadow box. For the greatest impact, group several like items together on a single wall.

Mix Don’t Match: Nothing shouts humdrum like a room full of matchy-matchy furniture right off of the showroom floor. Don’t be afraid to mix flea market finds or family heirlooms with a few new quality pieces. Although finishes and furnishings should relate to each other, they do not have to match or be of the same era, quality or price. Combine high and low end design pieces gathered over time for a style that looks rich, expensive and uniquely you.

Remember, true decorating satisfaction comes from creativity – not cash. It’s not what you have – it’s how you use what you have that makes the difference between rooms that fall flat and rooms that feel fabulous!

Color Selection – Choosing Colors For Your Home

Filed Under (Piano Lamp Articles) by pana193 on 17-06-2010

Color selection is the single most requested interior design dilemma. How do you pick out colors? Will I like them when they are all together? Should I just stay neutral and use color only in my accessories? And the questions go on…

At the base of the color selection dilemma is emotion. Color evokes strong feelings, and this is hard for people to commit to. Yellow makes you happy, red makes you tense or angry, and blue feels cold to you. Now someone may say that red is passionate and blue is soothing- who is right in their color assessment? Why, of course, you are since it’s your home, after all! Color is a personal choice, but interior decorators can help guide and direct you through the selection.

First and foremost, pick out colors that you like. I always advise clients to think of the colors that they wear in clothing. These are generally complimentary to their coloring and what they like. It does not have to be different for your home. If you do not wear orange or particularly like it, then why paint the kitchen orange just because the designer says to? There are some easy to follow tips that can be applied when picking out colors for your décor.

When you walk into your home now, do the colors feel warm or cold? This will tell you what tones you like. My theory is that brunettes tend to gravitate toward warm colors (reds, yellows, browns), and blondes like the cool tones (blues, lavenders, and pinks). The major concept in selecting a color tone is to keep the same tone throughout the house for good flow of color. You do not need to use the same color family, but the tones need to be the same. If your dining room is painted red (warm), it would be very jarring to have a lavender (cool) kitchen adjoining it.

After you decide the tone of colors that you like, color selection flows easily. There is a color formula that can be used in every room. It is as follows: 50% of the dominate color- usually a neutral on your walls and in your flooring, 30% of a secondary color- the furniture and larger pieces in the room emphasize this color, and finally 20% of a third color- your accessories. For example, a popular color trend is the “sand and surf” combination. Blue and brown are a natural pairing, just check out any body of water with a beach! So, in our formula, let’s use a taupe for the walls and flooring (50% of the room). Throw in some furniture, slip-covered in denim for a casual feel or with a blue patterned upholstery- that is our 30%. Finally, with accessories bring in that 20% of a third color. In this room- a chocolate brown or moss green would really add punch to the color scheme. This color formula can be modified a bit, but really does work every time.

Now you know some of the secrets of color selection! Color in your home is something to have fun with and enjoy. It should evoke good emotions, not anxiety and worry about “picking out the right color”! Try some of these easy suggestions the next time you are sprucing up your space, and remember- it’s only a can of paint. Change the color if you do not like it!

Create an Impressive Home Decor – Shabby Chic Style

Shabby chic home décor is ‘all the rage’ these days and it is no wonder why! Shabby chic is not only fashionable it is elegant and it is not hard to accomplish when you have the ability to work with detail. With that being said, it is not difficult to ‘miss the mark’ if you do not have a good feel for this decorating technique.

What is so rewarding about working with shabby chic home décor is that you can get the shabby chic look without exhausting your decorating budget. What is nice is that you can use furnishings that you currently have on hand and ‘distress’ them simply by applying varnish and using sandpaper to age them. It is very easy to find this home décor just about anywhere. Online auction websites and retailers are a great place to start.

Due to the ever increasing demand of shabby chic home décor, retailers are popping up everywhere. Even so, shopping online is a great place to find shabby chic furnishings. Since online retailers are not restricted to showroom floor space, they are able to offer a much greater selection.

When using shabby chic home décor, it pays to know the difference between what is chic and what is gaudy. Simply because something looks like an antique does not mean it is the right piece for your home! Your plan is not to look as if you cannot afford new furniture. Instead, you are trying to show appreciation for vintage styles by using quality furniture that is not necessarily as old as you would think.
